Colonial Times in America were from 1492-1763. It included mostly incoming emmigrants of European ancestery like mine from Italy.
All came for the formation of a new world....
it looked something like this:

Many years later but in the same area which looks much as it did in Colonial times my Grandmother was born at home in the North End of Boston in Paul Revere's house it was a tenement, she said back in her day babies were born at home....
Her grandmother was a Great Seamstress and had a school to teach girls..my Nana was always fashionably dressed! This is a photo of what it might have looked like back in her day before it was an Historical Momument and some information:
The Paul Revere Memorial Association rescued and restored the Paul Revere House. The building that had been the patriot's home from 1770-1800 continued for a time as a private home, however, by 1845 it was in full use as a boarding house mostly for transient seamen. The first floor was converted to accommodate shops, at various times a candy store, a cigar store, an Italian bank and a green grocer. The rest of the house was used for tenement apartments. Years of hard use took their toll and the house fell into disrepair. It was described as ...
"a quaint dilapidated wooden house with queer chimneys and overhanging upper story. Looking into the hall through the open doorway, may be seen layers of variegated wallpapers. This is the oldest building in Boston gradually sinking into utter ruin."

I have only been there one time...but the Freedom Trail and the History is sure something to see! Not to mention the sailing ships....ARG! Chowder Or Linguini with Clams anyone
